Building a three-level multimodal emotion recognition framework

چکیده
Abstract Multimodal emotion detection has been one of the main lines research in field Affective Computing (AC) recent years. detectors aggregate information coming from different channels or modalities to determine what users are expressing with a higher degree accuracy. However, despite benefits offered by this kind detectors, their presence real implementations is still scarce for various reasons. In paper, we propose technology-agnostic framework, HERA, facilitate creation multimodal offering tool characterized its modularity and interface-based programming approach adopted development. HERA (Heterogeneous Emotional Results Aggregator) offers an architecture integrate services heterogeneous results produce final result using common format. This proposal constitutes step forward development providing manage fuse produced them sensible way. We assessed validity testing system several developers no previous knowledge about affective technology detection. The assessment was performed applying Computer System Usability Questionnaire Twelve Cognitive Dimensions Questionnaire, used Visual Studio group at Microsoft, obtaining positive important feedback future versions system.

Multimodal Emotion Recognition from Low-Level Cues
Emotional intelligence is an indispensable facet of human intelligence and one of the most important factors for a successful social life. Endowing machines with this kind of intelligence towards affective human–machine interaction, however, is not an easy task. It becomes more complex with the fact that human beings use several modalities jointly to interpret affective states, since emotion af...

Laughter is a significant paralinguistic cue that is largely ignored in multimodal affect analysis. In this work, we investigate how a multimodal laughter corpus can be constructed and annotated both with discrete and dimensional labels of emotions for acted and spontaneous laughter. Professional actors enacted emotions to produce acted clips, while spontaneous laughter was collected from volun...

Multimodal fusion is the process whereby two or more forms of input are gathered together in order to produce a higher overall classification accuracy than individual unimodal systems. This is a popular technique in emotion recognition. In this study, we attempted to discover how much we could improve upon individual unimodal systems using decision level fusion. To accomplish this, we acquired ...

Speech is the primary means of communication between human beings in their day-to-day interaction with one another. Speech, if confined in meaning as the explicit verbal content of what is spoken, does not by itself carry all the information that is conveyed during a typical conversation, but is in fact nuanced and supplemented by additional modalities of information, in the form of vocalized e...

Recent technological advances have enabled human users to interact with computers in ways previously unimaginable. Beyond the confines of the keyboard and mouse, new modalities for human-computer interaction such as voice, gesture, and force-feedback are emerging. Despite important advances, one necessary ingredient for natural interaction is still missing–emotions. Emotions play an important r...
